YANKEE are you one?

So if your unsure of my term YANKEE  I looked it up on Wikipedia. It described it as I meant it.  It says it so nicely, even a bit of how Mark Twain used it:

Yankee, songs, history Revolutiony War

The meaning of Yankee has varied over time. In the 18th century, it referred to residents of New England descended from the original English settlers of the region. Mark Twain, in the following century, used the word in this sense in his novel A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, published in 1889. As early as the 1770s, British people applied the term to any person from what became the United States. In the 19th century, Americans in the southern United States employed the word in reference to Americans from the northern United States (though not to recent immigrants from Europe; thus a visitor to Richmond, Virginia, in 1818 commented, "The enterprising people are mostly strangers; Scots, Irish, and especially New England men, or Yankees, as they are called").[2]

Where do you Hail from?

Have you ever been asked where did your Ancestors come from?
Sometimes the only time people may think of it is on the long Census questioner form.  I am not sure if they even had a long form in 2010 federal census.

This of course can cause great thinking for some folks.
My dad would sit at the dinner table going over and over where our ancestors were from.
His list was so much shorter then what I have come to learn over the past few years.

My Dads list was:

French
Irish
Canadian French
Native American
[he did not have the correct tribe at all]

My list for my fathers side is:
 German
 Basque
 Dutch
 English
 Scottish
 French
 Narragansett
Canadian French

My dad was close to 50% correct.  He was just missing all about his mom's side.
Through my research I now know more then what I was told as a child
