Canadian Graves, Canadian Headstones.com, Find a grave in Canada

Find A Grave in Canada with CanadianHeadstones.com

Find a grave (gravestone, headstone, tombstone) in Canada by clicking on the province, or territory. These records are created by volunteers, like yourself, who submit photographs (photos, pictures, scans) of headstones. A volunteer may submit 1 or 1001 (one or one thousand and one) entries to the database. They may even photograph and submit a complete cemetery (cemetary).
Find a grave within a province or territory, by searching by county, district, rural municipality or region. You can, also, search the database using a surname, partial surname, begins with, contains or even sounds like.
You can also locate a grave by searching a particular cemetery. You may even list all records for a cemetery.
If you see a cemetery name which contains a plus sign ( + ), this indicates there is a photograph of the cemetery gate, entrance or landscape. To locate this photograph or picture, perform a search using cemetery name.
We encourage submitters to include photos of any headstone, gravestone, tombstone, necropolis, monument, war memorial, statue, plaque which show information about a burial or death. We expect the complete transcription, text, epitaph, or whatever is on the monument to be entered for the benefit of researchers, family members and others who have any interest in genealogy, family history or local history.
CanadianHeadstones.com is a Non-Profit Canadian Corporation. Therefore, it's longevity is assured. It does not rely on any one person for it's survival into the years ahead.
Further information is readily available from our Help & FAQ or Terms of Use.

Find A Grave & Ancestry.com

Find A Grave & Ancestry

I find I am so lucky that Ancestry.com has figured out a way to have Find A Grave as hints.

I found my Great Grandmother memorial under a totally different name I would not thought of to look for her
under that name.

So I was able to add a photo,  I also left a flower.

Now I am going to ask the contributor/maker of the memorial to transfer it to me.  I will be able then to add her bio. And have her linked to her daughter, sons & etc memorials.

Find A grave is such a great resource.  A lot of people put in a lot of effort to help others.

Have you been able to volunteer for them yet?

Genealoy Family History Presentation

Yesterday I did a Genealogy/Family History presentation.

Where I discussed only a few aspects of the research.  It was more about inspiring these folks.  It was not an audience of seasoned genealogist.  Although a few are.

I did tell them that Family History is moving at an extreame fast rate.   You have so many resources available.  Less  then 25% of our research now you  don’t have to step out side your door if you have internet access.

I Listed out some free sources

Free genealogy sources:
Familysearch.org a wealth of information so many avenues to check out.
Find A Grave.org
Intermment.
A Grave Matter.com
GenForum.org message board
Genweb *****[the state your looking for]
Rootsweb.org
Seeking Michigan

Type in a ancestors name into Google push the enter button,  something just might pop up. Maybe a book a message borad post etc…

Of course I plugged making a family history blog.

With the mention of Find A Grave there were several folks that told me they would give it a try.

When I was dropping off my son for BSA camp to a friends house the dad showed me on his I phone. That Find A Grave had a photo of his Great Grandad & his grave marker.

Yep Find A Grave has a lot of information there.  One of my favorite places to look for an ancestor.
